Literally just wrote these lyrics off the top of my head. I haven't reflected or changed anything. This is total spontaneity. I just got the name Obsolete Humanity in my head and ran with it. Obsolete Humanity Verse 1: Masters of our own destinies we have shed our innocence and embraced the salvation of finite knowledge. We worship the gods of philosophy and reason. We have replaced the alter and chalice with technology and medicine. Liberation. Emancipation. Free from the superstitions that hold us back. Human evolution, have we reached our pinnacle yet? This mountain we climb to better ourselves is the same rock we tie around our necks. Throw us in; watch us drown in our own fallible glory. Throw us in watch us thrash about as we delude ourselves this is progress. This is our Sisyphus’ stone; our eternal paradox. Chorus: Obsolete humanity Obsolete humanity Humanity is obsolete Verse 2: Discard morality, expedience replaces virtue; discard truth for the fabrication of a subjected perception of lies. God is dead, safe guard our deicide, our crowning achievement. It was necessary we tell ourselves; we must have control. God is dead and so are we! A broken and fragile humanity, survival of the oppressors and tyrants, the liars and the sycophants. This is the new Darwin. Religion has become anachronistic to this sado-masochistic and self-destructive folly. There is no soul, only the mind. What intellectual giants we have become, perverted, sadistic, destructive, without purpose, without meaning. Organise ourselves into intellectual frameworks that replace the sacred with the fallen, they are all just different incarnations of the idolatry and futility of the self. How can what is finite comprehend the infinite? How can the mortal experience the immortal? Reject what we cannot understand and ironically replace with our own fallible conception of perfection. Repeat chorus
