Jah_Drive -> lies from Dial-the-Truth about P.O.D. (8/7/2008 9:03:55 PM)

Hey fellow Warriors,
It's me, Jah_drive once again with a new post & thread. In this post I will be refuting an example of the lies that critics of P.O.D. have thrown at us through the years. This criticism is from the infamous "Dr." Terry Watkins of www.av1611.org. I'll just be brief in my posting and response here as I don't want to take up too much time. This will be an effective way to show the mentality and the hatred these people have for rock bands who do impact people in good ways. Let's get started.
Terry Watkins says in his "What about P.O.D.?" article in his "P.O.D. and Rastafarianism" section that "Rastafarians consider Ethiopia heaven on earth. Rasta’s do not believe in an afterlife or hell, as Christianity believes." http://www.av1611.org/crock/pod_rast.html Huh? Where's the evidene for this, sir? Where's the documentation? If Terry is seeking to expose both P.O.D. and the Rasta religion, he's got to show us in-context quotations from ORIGINAL and OFFICIAL Rasta material to show us that this is from their faith. Sadly, the man doesn't give us this at all. He simply gives us a blanket statement and an assertion that is left unproven. Then, the man gives quotes by P.O.D. to somehow prove that P.O.D. doesn't believe in hell. Here are his remarks:
Apparently, P.O.D. also does not believe in hell:
"It’s not you’re going to burn in hell. It’s love and respect."

"We’re not passing out pamphlets that say ‘get your life straight or you’re gonna burn in hell.’ The Bible says it’s God love and kindness that leads people to repentance."

If you examine these quotations from Marcos and Sonny (which are old, by the way), they don't specifically deny hell. They simply are saying that "we don't want to reach people through force, anger, shoving religion down your throat," etc. Just read the ending portions of the quotes. Sonny even mentions "The Bible says it's God love and kindness that leads people to repentance." Why didn't Terry address the matters in this way? Answer: he's trying to find a "heresy" inherent in P.O.D. He's trying to make it look as bad as possible. With this in mind, what is the truth on P.O.D.'s position on hell? The truth can be found in P.O.D.'s song "If it Wasn't for You" which is on their Warrior EP's (the 2nd disc) and their 2006 Greatest Hits: The Atlantic Years release. The lyrics EXPLICITLY say what Terry Watkins denies about the band: "Do I believe in heaven and hell/shoot hell yeah I do/cause we alive today and my crew is living proof" Did you get that, folks? Sonny and the boys just said that they believed in hell, contrary to Dr. Watkins' blind assertion provided by two quotes taken OUT OF CONTEXT! If this is the best they can do against us Warriors, then we can relax. We have nothing to fear, and it only serves to show that these people cannot imagine that God loves folks like the guys at P.O.D. They are modern-day Pharisees who are seeking our spiritual destruction. We would do well to do our own thinking instead of believing the trash that Watkins and others are throwing out. Anyways, I just wanted to post this because I believe that God laid this on my hearts for you all, and I hope you're all doing OK. Catch you all later.
