P.O.D. celebrates the reunion of its original lineup with "When Angels & Serpents Dance" (April 8), but the party has already fallen flat. The record is midtempo and experimental (no crime there), yet lead single "Addicted" was probably chosen to reassure that the band is still playing socially conscious rock—which would be fine if "Addicted" wasn't as harmless as aspirin. Down-tuned guitars make the track sludgy, as vocalist Sonny Sandoval misfires with an off-kilter rap that leaves him sounding winded. He claims to feel "electrified, I'm so high" on a track that can knock you out like Valium; however, PDs seem to be embracing this "addiction." We're holding out for the disc's "End of the World." —Christa L. Titus

This really leaves you to wonder if Billboard really knows what they're talking about.[:-]  It's really starting to bug me how everyone (like Billboard) is expecting some kind of "Satellite" sounding album.  Truth is, get over it guys, Satellite was a different album from a different era.  Times change, people change, the music evolves.  Whether this album is as good as Satellite or not, it's still no reason to knock P.O.D. for expanding their horizons.  Satellite is Satellite, WAASD is WAASD, deal with it! Got a bit angry there for a sec lol.  Anyway, "Addicted", to me, is an excellent track.  I still think it was the wrong lead single choice, but still.  Take a look Billboard, "Addicted" is number 33, someone has to be enjoying it![8|] Keep it real Warriors! Jah Bless!

at the end of the day I think the reviewer missed the point of sonny's vocal delivery![:-] I think sonny sang purposefully like that to sort of replicate the sensation of being on drugs. At least i think it was deliberate and effective![:)]

I second trubywarrior's notion!

Warrior Chaz -> RE: billboard review on addicted (4/19/2008 6:25:16 AM)

I think that the reviewer is just a critic that doesn't know what she's talking about.

I posted this somewhere else, but it applies here too http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/content_display/reviews/albums/e3i431fdd0c9c1176b38d814ef729892cdc

In USA Today and on iTunes they recommended the song. Like Warrior Chaz said it all depends on what the person likes.

Yeah it does depend on the critic, which is why i say WHO CARES?! hehe

P.O.D. warrior -> RE: billboard review on addicted (5/2/2008 2:05:34 PM)

i think the song isnt getting much praise because the song talks about drugs, the music video was banned from MTV

KroniX -> RE: billboard review on addicted (5/5/2008 3:45:39 AM)

Isnt MTv and most of the TV shows in USA very weird? They have lesbian love shows, drug taking, and extremley imoral behaviour, then a video like 'Addcited' comes out, Christian band, who identify's the truth...and its banned.

What a twisted world :s
