It seems to me that the Epic and Dramatic imagery of Catholicism lends itself alot more to Metal, specifically Death, than the happy go lucky "no Jesus on our cross" imagery of Protestanism. My question is: WHERE ARE THE CATHOLIC METAL BANDS?? I'm sick and tired of bands like The Crucified, Sinai Beach, and Seventh Star pushing their anti-catholic, anti-organized religious views on me. I want some structure, I want some rules! Can anyone help me out? I'm sort of looking for the anti-Sinai Beach bands.

LONG LIVE JOHN PAUL II!!!

Dude, the last it i knew, you were totally into Sinai Beach. And just for the record, organised religion is not all a great thing. Bands like Sinai are preaching the imminent truth about society, corruption and manipulation.

That was the most ignorant, arrogant and generalised statement ever.

Their anti-catholic and anti-organized religion views rub me the wrong way. Besides, every songs sounded the same. Also, I happen to like organization in religion. It's alot better than the hateful "counter-culture" views spewed by Seventh Star.

Hey, Kev, gettin' kinda tense, aren't you?

Of course Jesus loved religion, why else would he want us to be religious?

Jesus hated the concept of religion, because at the time of Him on earth he criticised the system of rules and regulations the pharisees bound themselves to, they were more interested in organisation and the institution rather than the grace of God.
Also, the ideology of "no Jesus on our cross" is biblical, Jesus was resurrected from the Cross, and is now with His father in heaven, and that we are forgiven for our sins.

Another Catholic metal band is Illuminandi, http://www.illuminandi.kdm.pl/menu.html

Jesus did not hate religion, He only disliked the practise of religion without faith in Him but meaninglessly doing things only out of repetition and to gain the attention of others, in fact He came to give meaning to the laws.

Matthew 5:17-20
quote:

Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place.
Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus on the cross is a reminder of what that cross represents, the love that Jesus had for us. That is no way idoltry. The problem comes when you start worshipping the statue and not Jesus but a statue that represents Jesus. Jesus did rise but when he died he was on the cross.....I mean if it wasn't for Jesus dyingg on the cross what would be the point of wearing a cross in the first place?

I've always known Brazil to be the largest Catholic nation, but I never knew they had a very healthy Christian METAL scene. They will give America a run for their money.
Down here we barely have a metal scene and let alone a christian one.
Brazil is the place to watch.

just on the kyrie eleison thing - i didn't see this thread before!

my name is kyrie-eleison - my parents are WEIRD. i have a (younger) sister called Belinda - need i mention i'm the eldest?

Kyrie eleison is a prayer in the liturgy of most liturgical churches (catholic, anglican etc) and it's actually greek but it's the last remaining greek in the latin mass. it means Lord have mercy and the Kyrie is a three line prayer - Kyrie eleison, Christe eleison, Kyrie eleison (Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy)

yep impromptu lecture on the origins of my name and that prayer.

oh and for the record, i'm not catholic - my dad just likes greek!

hey what's up?  Just saw this post.  You can check out our old band Disarm as well on our website.  Also, if we ever get a guitar player I am sure we will bust out some metal.  So pray we can find a guitar player and spread the world.
