Now, this is not directed to any single person or groups of people. Im just getting somewhat annoyed how folks tend to be  uber-critical of anything the guys do. Be it a particular song or performance or interviews or whatever. That's one thing that has been a downer to me about the Southtown boards. I do respect everyone's opinions as we are all entitled to them, shoot, theres somethings I don't like about the album, but what does it prove to be negative and straight up diss the guys? If we're supposed to be "Warriors" shouldn't we be supportive and loving even if we disagree on things, isnt that what famila is about?  I'm not even tryin to say that we be all lovey-duby and butt kissing but c'mon, if you're a fan why bash and be negative about the band that you're supposedly a fan of. Again, no disrespect whatsoever is intended at all, I just sayin' spread love and be positive, The guys really need our support, love and prayers/positive thoughts. To paraphase a favorite scripture "Speak blessings, not curses".
One...

POD are Christian PEOPLE (humans) making music.  And who says Christians need to be happy all the time?  Yes, we have the joy of salvation and we have peace coming from God, but cmon...we are emotional beings.  We have sadness and happiness, anger, depression, everything.  POD is real and expresses it.  You guys ever read the songs and writings in the bible?  You guys ever read the psalms, lamentations, ecclesiastes?  It's not all upbeat and happy go lucky.  Bad things happen and it's beautiful to sing about them and to plead with God, as long as we don't worship them and know that the victory is in Christ.  Let the real men sing about what's real.  POD rocks.

The golden rule is pretty universal. A lot of people either don't know or just don't care about how they talk about OTHERS on any topic under the sun. Just as long as THEY'RE not the ones being talked about.

I agree. It's really messed up how a fan can talk crap about their own band. It's like a sneak shot from the inside. It's rude and shows everyone else how you really feel. I'm not saying agree with every little thing the band does but don't rip their song or talk about how much they suck now that Truby is gone/Marcos is back/whatever you don't like. The music is their music. They are going to write about how they feel and their personal struggles. Don't expect them to be happy-go-lucky every moment of the day because that's not how life is and that definitely isn't how their lives were growing up. They write to express themselves, not appease the populace. The music is going to grow up because they're growing up.

It also bugs me when people talk about how Christian P.O.D. is. Firstly, as far as Christians go, they seem to be the most legit ones I've ever met if not one of the most. They truly understand their beliefs and religion way more than other folks who have called themselves Christian. They're moreso spiritual than religious and I can get with that any day of the week. Secondly, while how holy/saved someone may be may matter the universe to you, it doesn't to me. The reason is because anyone can be of any religion but it's their morals and how they act that counts. Do I listen to P.O.D. because they're Christian? Heck no, I'm a Pagan Witch. I listen because I, just like with anything else I'll listen to, like what they say. They really are honest in their lyrics. I dig how spiritual they are being Christian. Most people will simply do that for show and the paycheck that comes with it but these guys are pretty honest and honestly, they're going to mess up on occasion. We all do. No need to slam someone for who they are, especially if you're doing worse. Especially if you wouldn't say it to their face but much rather at their backs.

Just listen to the music for what it is. If the lyrics speak to you, good. If you think the photographer needs to be shipped to a warzone and shrapnel bombed for snaping a picture you don't understand at first sight, keep it to yourself. Constructive critism is ok but don't forget that this is merely your opinion and you may not see things the same as P.O.D.. No point in assaulting them with snippy comments if you call yourself a Warrior when really you're more of a Backstabber and a Hypocrite.

The vibe I'm getting in this thread is, "If you like it, great. If you don't, keep it to yourself."

We all love P.O.D., that's understood, because we're here. But we don't all love everything they do. That'd be silly. This is P.O.D. we're talking about; they change constantly. We shouldn't feel obligated to speak positively about things we think negatively of. People can be harsh, but sometimes that's because they have harsh feelings.

I agree with you Vines.  If you don't like something, you should be able to speak freely of it.  P.O.D. has put out songs and done things I didn't neccessarily like, but I still love the band.  Vines isn't bashing P.O.D., he's just stating an opinion, as we all do.  The main thing is, P.O.D. is an excellent band.  They're musical ability is almost unmatched! So let's give our guys props where they deserve them and offer our honest opinions where we feel they should be heard.  Jah Bless Warriors!

I've always been straight up about what I think about POD's albums.. I didnt like payable on death when it came out ..then it grew on me .. I loved testify .. Waasd is a good album but in my opinion not there best. Over the years I have coped flack from many so called "warriors" for having my own opinion about certain POD albums but you know .. I dont really care .. if I dont like an album I'll say it.

Waasd is still growing on me .. my favorite album is still Satellite followed by Testify .. I like both marcos and jason equally as artists and I think they both brought awesome dimensions to POD .. marcos being back in the band is a true testimony to the healing power of prayer.

People will always have things to say about POD .. personally there is no band I like enough to lie and say I like an album when I really dont .. I'm an honest person. I like POD for who they are as people first .. and then artists.

We all have the right to speak our minds .. but I think its important to speak your mind without being mean spirited about it.

there's a different trinity in saying you don't like an album and just being rude to the guys in the band

everyone has their own opinion on everything....and we've always welcomed that.

however, i will not allow people to get away with the "my musical taste has grown so much deeper than p.o.d.'s" comments or the "what's happened to the hard rocking p.o.d. that we first heard" comments or especially the "these lyrics are so cheesy, what was sonny thinking" comments. i think those pretty much generalize the "rude comments" this thread is trying to point out.

1) your tastes are your tastes...p.o.d.'s are there's. you want to make different music, create a band and get yourself signed on a major label

2) it's called growing up

whatever your opinion is...this is a P.O.D. board. we're not going to allow you to attack the guys music.

Theres 2 problems...One, people who post negative things in a rude way..Two, people who get offended and flip out when someone gives an opinion that they dont agree with...Ive always said Im one of the biggest P.O.D. fans out there and i always will be, but there are things i disagree with and dont like but i just dont care to state them...But if someone says something about them in a negative way, who cares??..Its their own opinion and feeling....If someone thinks Sonny wrote cheesy lyrics for a song, than thats what they feel, greeeat, let em think that...All im saying is, a fan should be able to have their own opinion on what they feel, as long as its not a straight up lie or ment in a way to tear down...Anyways, im going to watch Prison Break :)

I know what your saying Ricky .. I was just trying to point out that when payable on death came out I didnt like it at first and I let that be known in a respectful way .. but I still got trashed for it .. I am sure there are enough level headed mods and admins on these boards to maintain a decent balance of opinion and respect without allowing things to get out of hand.

I've personally never thought of any of POD's lyrics as "cheesy" but I dont think the word "cheesy" is offensive in any way .. If thats someones opinion then they should be able to post it .. and the rest of us should be mature enough to reply and say " I respectfully disagree with your opinion "

You know .. I've been a mod on these boards since just about day one .. and I would never let anyone disrespect POD .. I am a HUGE fan of P.O.D. and I stand by them because of the fact that they are a light for Jesus in a world full of vulgar and disgusting secular bands .. that alone is a huge ministry for POD to be in and that is why I have such mad respect for them .. so yeah I might not like WAASD as much as I liked Testify or Satellite .. but I'll always be a warrior. Being honest and respectful is part of what being a warrior is all about.

Peace
