I know the album is yet to be released but since they've put the entire album up on their myspace I decided to check it out and give it an early review. Hope you enjoy it and find it useful, both for those familiar with the band and those who've only just discovered them The Infinite Order: "The first thing I have to say about the new Living Sacrifice album is the energy coursing through each distorted, palm muted, blast beat thumping track. Living Sacrifice have returned, after a 6 year hiatus, with a vengeance! I believe this is in large part due to the prolificacy of lead guitarist Rocky Gray, who has never left the music scene in one form or another from the time Living Sacrifice called it a day back in 2002. Nevertheless it is obvious from the very first note struck on the new album that the chemistry that made the band so dynamic before is still there...and then some! Indeed Living Sacrifice has stated in their press releases that they had no intentions of trying to change with the times and paid little attention to the current trends in the metal scene. This is pure, unadulterated and unashamed Living Sacrifice in all their metal glory. Fans of the Hammering Process and Conceived in Fire, the bands two previous releases with lead guitarist Rocky Gray and bassist Arthur Green, will hear the similarities immediately. However, the band have not rested on their laurels and the Infinite Order is anything but a mediocre, ‘cookie cutter’ album of re-heated left overs. The music is powerful and invigorated. This is an album by a band that has honed its craft and knows who they are and how to do what they do best. Moreover songs ‘Unfit to Live’ and ‘the Apostasy’ exhibits a different Living Sacrifice, one which still has a few tricks left up its sleeve. The Infinite Order is an exciting; adrenaline fuelled and amplified statement of intent: a declaration of what the band stands for, musically and lyrically. Each track exhibits the bands masterful grasp of the mechanics of their sound: fast, heavy, technical, discordant and percussive. This could well be the best album from Living Sacrifice to date. Rocky’s face melting guitar solos, especially on tracks such as Organised Lie and Nietzsche’s Madness, have never sounded more exhilarating and are executed with authority – fast, intense and a celebration of his technical virtuosity. Lance’s drumming animates that primal urge inside the listener as they are captivated by his choppy and innovative use of percussion. Once more he plays his instrument with authority; giving each song that extra punch that resonates with the listener long after the song has finished, bringing them back for repeated listens. The Infinite Order also showcases the very finest from Arthur and Bruce instrumentally as their skilful playing defines so much of the band’s very distinctive rhythmic sound. Song ‘The Training’, with its opening chugging riff sounds like it came straight off the back of the Reborn album, exemplifying that the new album represents everything Living Sacrifice were and have perfected since their original metamorphosis in the mid ‘90s. Bruce’s vocals have lost none of their intensity and his lyrics too probe the mind and inspire the spirit. Living Sacrifice have gone through many transformations over the years yet this line up truly seems to embody and epitomise who the band are. This is the line up that has redefined the boundaries between secular and spiritual and trail blazed the metalcore scene. This is the band who changed heavy music in the late 90s early 00s and they are not done yet stamping their mark on the scene. It is very easy to be deluded with self-generated hype in the attempt to will an album to be great. But there is no hyperbole (subjectively speaking) in this review as the Infinite Order truly is a fantastic, rip-roaring, fist pumping, head-banging album. Hopefully the Infinite Order will be the first of several new albums from a band who have only improved with age. All hail the mighty Living Sacrifice. Let the metal onslaught begin again!"
