I really, really, REALLY want to hate this album.  I want to be able to say "chalk this one up with the rest of the garbage they've produced over the past few years".  I yearn to not go out and buy this cd to make my stand that metallica turned their back on their music and ventured off into candy land music.

But wow, I really, actually, impressively, like this album.  It hasn't totally won me over, I'm still somewhat bitter still, but I'm (really hating to say this) actually proud to say I like it.  Again, it's nowhere near a masterpiece, and I hate to sound like a review you may have read yesterday, but it's a pretty good album.

I read reviews, I listened to samples....all of which further peaking my curiosity on this album.  I downloaded it, YES LARS, ILLEGALLY (you half wit), and I must say that based on what I hear, I will buy this album this weekend.  I'm still waiting on reality to come and slap me and make me feel like the 10 year old who was caught humping the dog in front of the family's guests, but I seriously can't wait to wake up tomorrow, pop this pirated cd (yes lars, I hope you eat those words for breakfast) into the car and enjoy the ride to work tomorrow.  And then back, and then repeat on Thursday and Friday.

Yes I admit I pirated it.  I also admit the record industry got it wrong many moons ago, and I'm still bitter over that.  But after hearing this album on it's first run, I'm willing to let Lars off the hook (blasphemy!).  Well maybe not totally...but I really think I'd be proud to be spinning a metallica cd in my car again.  I really can't wait for tomorrow morning!

(note: the whole humping the dog thing...I really never did that or knew anyone that did.  Honestly.  Please do not mention that to anyone)

i've heard two tracks so far... they sound like complete crap to me, Kirk is playing with digital guitar amps now... what the hell is that!... overall the sound is weak.

the new AC/DC is complete awesomeness tho.

I've heard the whole album several times now at work .. and I have to say I think I liked St. Anger better .. I get it that they are going for the old school vibe and a lot of people will really like that but its just not for me.

Never been a huge metallica fan anyway.
